Frictionless E-Invoicing Streamlining IRAS Compliance via Modern Cloud Ledgers (with Practical Insights from Jaz)
With the progressive rollouts of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) InvoiceNow mandate drawing closer, shifting your billing workflow has transformed from a voluntary operational upgrade into a critical compliance target. Adopting this framework is far more than a regulatory box-ticking exercise: it serves as a direct pathway to accelerating B2B cash flow, eliminating manual data entry, and streamlining transaction-level GST reporting.
Compliance Strategy: Native cloud e-invoicing enables standard invoices to glide directly from your software to your buyer’s ledger, cutting out manual email processing and securing tax compliance automatically.
The Peppol ID: Your Business’s Digital Passport
To tap into the transactional speed of InvoiceNow, local enterprises must establish a secure endpoint on the nationwide e-invoicing network managed directly by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA).
The structural anchor of this ecosystem is the Peppol ID. Think of the Peppol ID as a corporate digital passport for automated ledger routing. Much like your Unique Entity Number (UEN) registers your entity for ACRA filings, your Peppol ID acts as an airtight, verified electronic billing address on the shared grid.
Integrated Software Allocation
Businesses automatically obtain their Peppol ID by deploying an accredited cloud accounting infrastructure, such as solutions like Jaz.
Automated Network Sync
Inputting your active Singapore UEN triggers a background handshake, syncing directly with the IMDA registry to configure your digital transaction node.
The Cloud Execution Blueprint: A Practical Setup Walkthrough
Achieving seamless e-invoicing connectivity should never demand heavy capital outlays, custom developer APIs, or specialized IT middleware. Market-leading cloud systems connect natively to IMDA-accredited Peppol Access Points.
To demonstrate how fast this deployment looks in practice, our technology partner Jaz has provided an illustrative look at the three-step integration lifecycle within their interface:
Submit Your Entity Details
To start, all you need are some basic information. This includes your business’s UEN, registered business name and legal name, registered address, GST registration number, a Corppass account, and a contact person’s name and email address. Start the activation process independently on Jaz, and submit the required details.
Verify Activation with Corppass
The contact person will receive an email with instructions to complete the verification. This has to be done twice: once for InvoiceNow activation, and once for GST InvoiceNow activation. Verification is completed through Corppass, so the contact person should either have Corppass access themselves or be able to pass the instructions on to someone who does.
Get Your Peppol ID
Once you’ve completed the verification process for GST InvoiceNow, you can retrieve your business’s Peppol ID under Organization Details. From there, you can submit e-invoice data to IRAS under GST InvoiceNow and send e-invoices to customers directly from Jaz, with the e-invoicing workflow built into the invoice creation process. You can also share your Peppol ID with suppliers so that draft bills are automatically populated with data from incoming e-invoices.
The result is a setup that delivers on the promise of frictionless e-invoicing: no paperwork trail to chase, no manual re-keying of data, and IRAS compliance built into the invoicing workflow.
Navigating the 2H 2026 InvoiceNow Grant Ecosystem
To ease onboarding friction and heavily offset transition costs before upcoming rollout dates, IMDA and IRAS have introduced a suite of capital subsidies and cash grants:
S$1,000 GST Transition Grant
Targets smaller GST-registered businesses (annual supplies ≤ S$4M in CY2025). Provides a S$1,000 cash payout to offset operational subscription and deployment costs.
S$5,000 GST Transition Grant
For mid-sized and larger GST-registered entities (annual supplies > S$4M in 2025) running standalone ERP environments, early adoption yields a S$5,000 cash grant for integration overheads.
S$25,000 Queen Bee Grant
Large market enterprises connecting enterprise solutions can claim up to S$25,000 by successfully onboarding and transacting with at least 20 suppliers or 40 customers on the grid.
Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG)
Eligible SMEs can access the standard PSG framework, securing up to 50% co-funding support for qualifying cloud accounting subscriptions.
Finalising Your InvoiceNow Strategy
The overwhelming turnout and fully subscribed capacity of the official IMDA and IRAS InvoiceNow Fair held on 29 July at Suntec Singapore highlighted a clear message: preparing for upcoming e-invoicing mandates is top of mind for forward-looking leadership.
